Large Cavity Void Fill

Void filling operations are utilized in conjunction with lifting operations or as a standalone operation to re-support concrete which may not have settled but requires support. Voids can cause unsupported concrete to settle, fracture and break or promote vibration.

Void fill materials can also be used as lightweight fill in construction to protect mechanicals and seal penetrations prior to back fill.

Trench break pillows are also an example of how these specialty foams can be utilized to save time and money during large scale construction projects.

The large cavity void filling process requires specialty foams with characteristics which prevent overexpansion and heat buildup which can cause degradation of cell structure in HDEP’s.

In situations requiring higher density materials for large cavities, materials are applied in lifts and allowed to cool to prevent excessive heat buildup.
